PD One: Tuesday 14 May
Transform: Shakespeare and Contemporary Performance
Presented by Lucas Stibbard (boy girl wall, R&J, The Tragedy of King Richard III) this professional development workshop will deconstruct and reconstruct Shakespeare for a 21st century audience, in alignment with the incoming syllabus (Unit Four: Transform). Utilising case studies and practical exercises, Lucas will unpack how the conventions of Contemporary Performance can be applied to traditional Shakespearean texts in the Senior Drama classroom.
In line with our 2019 season, Lucas will touch on contemporary adaptations of Romeo & Juliet, as well as other texts in the Elizabethan form.
The workshop will explore fragmentation, hybridity and openness of form, intertextuality, appropriation, site-specific and mediatised performance and its application to modern treatment of classic texts.
When: Tuesday 14 May, 6:00pm-9:00pm
PD TWO: TUESDAY 15 OCTOBER
