boy girl wall : La Boite Encore #7

So, boy girl wall is sixteen years old. All grown up and by all rights, should be sulking around the house not talking to anyone. Quite the contrary apparently.
From its beginning, it’s been a noisy kid. A strange idea born from a group of theatre-makers wanting to do something their way for a change, it came into the world with a bang. Well, actually it put Lucas in hospital and we had to cancel the show for a year, during which it was refined into the show it became. Kids, right?
And after a sold-out season at Metro Arts, it was programmed for La Boite’s 2011 season, selling out its first run and returning for another (sold out) season later that year. It went on to perform at Hothouse Theatre, had a National Tour and, along the way, it was published by Currency Press – now in its seventh printing and indoctrinated studied by school kids around the country.
Now here it is, back at La Boite and sold out again. The world should be different from the one that noisy kid burst into all those years ago. And yet here we are with a story about socially-isolated people struggling to connect with the world around them – a search for the magical in an endless sea of mediocrity. Kids, right?
Thank you to absolutely everyone who helped along the way, especially our fellow Escapists – Neridah Waters, Keith Clarke, Sarah Winter and Jonathan Oxlade.
And, as always, we hope you enjoy the show.
