This full-time role oversees the operational delivery and commercial success of our venues, including the Roundhouse Theatre, Studio, Forecourt, Espresso Bar & Café, and Workshop. The successful candidate will play a key role in expanding venue hire opportunities, delivering exceptional client experiences, and managing high-quality hospitality and front-of-house services.

This role is ideal for an operations-focused leader with strong people management, hospitality, and venue hire experience who thrives in a dynamic arts environment.

Key Responsibilities

Venue Hire Operations

• Drive external venue hires (new and existing clients) to meet or exceed annual budget targets
• Manage and respond to venue hire enquiries with timely, professional communication

• Schedule and conduct site tours in collaboration with production and other departments
• Coordinate logistics across business, production and marketing teams, including technical requirements, ticketing build requirements, marketing support, and staffing
• Prepare detailed quotes, proposals, and hire agreements (under the supervision of the General Manager)
• Create and distribute event documentation, including event plans, schedules, and briefing materials
• Oversee event delivery and provide on-site event support
• Prepare accurate and timely post-event financial settlements
• Conduct post-event evaluations and contribute to continuous improvement
• Track and report against KPIs and venue hire performance metrics

Café & Bar Operations

• Oversee La Boite Espresso Bar & Cafe and licensed bar operations
• Manage stock control, ordering, stocktakes, pricing, and profitability (with support from the Café Barista)
• Monitor POS systems, reporting, and revenue performance
• Act as Approved Manager for licensed operations

Front of House Leadership

• Recruit, train, roster, and supervise front-of-house bar/event staff and the café barista
• Manage staffing budgets and ensure award and compliance obligations are met
• Develop and maintain FOH procedures, training, and service standards
• Ensure compliance with WHS, RSA, and safety requirements

Operations & Facilities

• Ensure all public spaces are safe, clean, and professionally presented
• Liaise with contractors, suppliers, and venue partners
• Oversee WHS, incident reporting, and emergency procedures
• Manage venue booking calendars to maximise utilisation

About You

• Proven experience in venue management, hospitality operations, or events
• Strong leadership skills with experience supervising and rostering staff
• Demonstrated experience managing bar and/or café operations and stock control
• Highly organised with excellent written and verbal communication skills
• Ability to work flexible hours, including some evenings and weekends as required

Essential Requirements

• Working with Children Check (Blue Card)
• Responsible Service of Alcohol (RSA) or willingness to obtain

Desirable

• Approved Manager (Liquor)
• First Aid and CPR certification
• Experience managing venue hires

Barista

Part-time | La Boite Theatre, Brisbane

La Boite Theatre is seeking an enthusiastic and customer-focused Part-Time La Boite Espresso Bar & Café Barista to join our team.

This is a hands-on, largely autonomous role, ideal for a hospitality professional who is passionate about high-quality coffee, excellent customer service, and working within a creative, community-focused environment.

Hours: 7:30am – 1:00pm, Monday to Friday Contract Period: 9 February – 9 November 2026

About the Role

Reporting to the Front of House & Venue Manager, you will be responsible for the day-to-day operation of the La Boite Espresso Bar & Cafe. You will play a key role in delivering a welcoming and professional café experience while acting as a positive ambassador for La Boite Theatre and its programs.

Key Responsibilities

• Open and close the La Boite Espresso Bar & Cafe in accordance with established procedures
• Prepare and serve food and beverages to a consistently high standard
• Deliver warm, professional, and engaging customer service
• Operate POS systems, manage cash handling, reconciliation, and banking
• Maintain cleanliness and presentation of front-of-house and back-of-house areas
• Monitor public spaces and address safety or presentation issues
• Manage stock levels, stocktakes, ordering, and deliveries for café and bar
• Support compliance with WHS, food safety, and legislative requirements
• Promote La Boite Theatre’s productions, activities, and programs

About You

• Passionate about coffee, hospitality, and customer service
• Minimum 1–2 years’ relevant experience (barista qualification preferred)
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Ability to work independently and take initiative
• Confident, professional, and reliable
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

Essential Requirements

• I’m Alert Food Safety Qualification

• Familiar with ETC Ion console, rigging, patching, and programming both conventional and intelligent fixtures

SOUND

• Familiar with A&H SQ6 console, QLab programming, and live mixing for theatre

AV

• Familiar with Epson Projectors, QLab programming, and networking

GENERAL

• Ability to work efficiently and calmly to deliver technical requirements to a high standard in accordance with industry best practice
• Experience with bump ins and outs, tech, and operation of productions and events
• Experience with working as part of a technical team
• Ability to work independently and function as Duty Technician as required (training provided)
• Comply with and actively contribute to safe work practices
• Under the direction of the Technical Coordinator and Production Manager, ability to deliver all technical elements of La Boite's mainstage productions and events
• In co-ordination with the Technical Coordinator and FOH staff, ability to deliver all technical elements and ensure the smooth running of Venue Hire events and maintain customer focus
• Help maintain and coordinate the backstage and technical areas of the theatre
