GET FANCY THIS SEPTEMBER!
The full Brisbane Festival program is out today and the team at La Boite couldn’t be more excited to be presenting the world premiere of Fancy Long Legs this September, alongside our friends at The Little Red Company and Brisbane Festival.
Fancy Long Legs is a brand-new glittery and vibrant musical adventure for children, based on a new picture book by Brisbane’s international tinsel and craft icon, Rachel Burke.
Adapted for the stage by Naomi Price (The Little Red Company) and directed by Courtney Stewart (La Boite Theatre), the show will feature original songs from Waveney Yasso.
Fancy Long Legs is a lively young arachnid who lives underneath a crafter’s cart. Easily distracted, Fancy embarks on a journey of self-discovery, supported by her spiderling friends, to find her own style and create something unique.
Proud Queenslander and acting graduate from Queensland Conservatorium Griffith University, Mia Lierich is the first cast member to be revealed and makes her professional mainstage debut as THE Fancy, our adventurous arachnid. Stay tuned for a full cast announcement in coming weeks!
Exploring themes of neurodivergence with a sparkling and relatable narrative, Fancy Long Legs brings a playful, glitter-covered adventure that emphasises acceptance, staying true to oneself, and finding friends who celebrate differences.
Audiences of all ages will be captivated by this heartwarming tale and dazzling production.
Mark your calendars for this must-see family event at La Boite Theatre during Brisbane Festival this September!
