Director Observerships
La Boite offers an exciting opportunity for emerging theatre directors to gain hands-on experience during the rehearsal period of a mainstage production.
This unique chance allows aspiring directors to shadow seasoned professionals, gaining valuable insight into the creative process, from rehearsals to production meetings, to tech and beyond!
Perfect for creatives at the beginning of their directing practice, participants will deepen their understanding of directing techniques and enhance their own creative practice.
Who is this program suitable for?
This program is open to Brisbane-based artists interested in gaining further insight into directing. The position is voluntary and is designed for early career artists and directors who are interested in observing theatre making processes to gather insights for their own practice.
What can you expect?
- Invitation to the Final Design Presentation of the work
- A one-on-one meeting with the Director prior to or throughout rehearsals
- Weekly rehearsal observation (1 x day per week)
- Production week observation (1 x plot process, 1 x tech dress)
- Engagement with the La Boite Producing team to discuss insights and learnings
- Invitation to La Boite’s Opening Nights across 2025.
