#PLAY SYNOPSIS
1992, an outer suburb of Adelaide. Charles and Di are breaking up, Dolly magazine is a young girl’s only source of information and Nirvana is exploding teenagers' minds everywhere. 15-year-old Rhiannon is living with her mum Linda: a talented hairdresser, forever buoyed by her favourite radio station - ‘Easy Listening 101.8’. Invisible and surrounded by teenage mediocrity, Rhiannon seeks out Suzie, a retired-punk-rocker from the record store. In the lead up to Christmas, this meeting plunges Rhiannon down a rabbit hole that’s less Alice in Wonderland, more Australian rock music underworld. Hits of the 70s, 80s and 90s is an exploration of how women are everywhere, but nowhere, in the music industry. It’s also a love letter – from your teenage self – to that song, that artist, or maybe that person, who came to you at your most awkward and misunderstood, and set your soul on fire.
