LA BOITE GIVING DAY 2026 INSPIRING THE NEXT ACT

La Boite Theatre will launch its annual Giving Day on Tuesday, 23 June, calling on the community to help inspire the next generation of theatre-makers, storytellers and audiences.
This year's Giving Day campaign focuses on ensuring more people can discover, develop and sustain a lifelong connection with theatre: from young people attending their first performance to emerging artists building sustainable creative careers.
Artist development and arts education have been central to La Boite's mission since its founding in 1925 by a drama teacher and a university professor who shared a passion for the transformative power of theatre. Today, that legacy continues through a range of initiatives designed to support artists and engage young people with the performing arts.
Funds raised through Giving Day will help expand opportunities across La Boite's artist development and education programs, including its flagship Assembly program and the newly announced Assembly Pathways initiative launching in the second half of 2026. Donations will also support subsidised tickets for local and regional school and university students, as well as hands-on workshops delivered by professional artists.
The impact of these programs will be showcased this weekend, 19–20 June, when 27 artists from the six-month Assembly program present original works on the Roundhouse stage as part of the La Boite Assembly 2026 Showcase. The event marks the culmination of months of creative development, mentorship and collaboration, providing emerging theatre-makers with a valuable platform to share new work with audiences and industry peers.
Donations received through Giving Day will help La Boite:
- Provide subsidised tickets for school groups and university students
- Deliver workshops and learning experiences led by professional artists
- Expand opportunities through the Assembly and Assembly Pathways programs
- Support emerging artists to develop new work, skills and industry connections
Every contribution will help nurture future storytellers, creatives and audiences while strengthening Queensland's cultural landscape.
